The Treatment
What chemical peels actually is: and who it's for.
What it is
A chemical peel uses acids applied in a controlled concentration and contact time to loosen the bonds between dead surface cells, accelerate cell turnover and stimulate renewal beneath. We work with NOON Aesthetics peels and Dermalogica professional peel protocols, choosing acid type, strength and layering based on your skin rather than applying a single fixed formula to everyone.
Who it's for
Clients dealing with dull, congested or textured skin, blocked pores and blackheads, post-inflammatory pigmentation left behind after breakouts, sun-related pigmentation, and early fine lines. Popular with clients across Banstead, Cheam, Epsom, Ewell and Sutton preparing for events, and as an autumn and winter course when sun exposure is lower.
When it's right
Autumn and winter are the ideal seasons for a peel course because sun exposure is the biggest risk to results. Peels are usually delivered as a course of three to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart, then maintained. Do not book a peel within two weeks of a wedding or holiday.
Why professional matters
Peels are a category where the consultation matters more than the product. The same acid at the same strength can transform one skin and inflame another. Skin type, Fitzpatrick scale, current actives, medication, pigmentation history and how your skin behaves after inflammation all determine what we use and how long we leave it on.
The Cost of Leaving It
What happens when it's left, or done badly.
Home peel kits bought online are sold without any assessment of your skin type, which is precisely how people end up with burns and pigmentation that takes months to settle.
Congested, textured skin does not respond to more cleansing. Scrubbing harder inflames it, and inflamed skin pigments.
Post-breakout marks can outlast the breakout by six months or more, so the spot heals and the reminder stays.
Deeper skin tones are frequently treated with protocols designed for pale skin, which is how pigmentation problems get worse rather than better.
The Precious Moments Method
How we deliver chemical peels, step by step.
-
Step 1
Consultation and skin assessment
We assess skin type, Fitzpatrick scale, concern, current products, medication and pigmentation history, and take a full medical history.
-
Step 2
Pre-peel preparation
For most skins, and especially deeper skin tones, we recommend a preparation period at home so the skin tolerates the peel well and the result is even.
-
Step 3
Prescriptive peel
Skin is cleansed and prepped, then the peel is applied in controlled layers with contact time monitored throughout, and adjusted for how your skin responds.
-
Step 4
Neutralise and soothe
The peel is neutralised or removed as the protocol requires, then calming and hydrating products and SPF are applied before you leave.
-
Step 5
Aftercare and review
Written aftercare covering SPF, actives to pause, what shedding is normal, and when to return. We review at each appointment and adjust strength.
What You Actually Get
Specific, measurable benefits.
Smoother, clearer texture
Accelerated turnover reduces the rough, uneven surface that makes skin look tired and makes makeup sit badly.
Fading of pigmentation
Course-based peeling helps break down surface pigmentation and post-breakout marks over time.
Clearer, less congested pores
Peels loosen the debris that blocks pores, reducing blackheads and the small bumps under the surface.
Better product penetration
Once the surface layer is refined, the skincare you already pay for actually reaches the skin it is meant to treat.
Prescribed strength
We build strength across a course rather than starting at maximum, which is safer and gives a more even result.
Honest downtime advice
We tell you before you book whether you will be flaky for a few days, so you can plan around work and events.
The Detail
Everything you'd want to know before booking.
The acids and what they do
Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic and lactic are water-soluble and work on the surface, making them well suited to dullness, dryness and uneven tone. Beta hydroxy acid, salicylic, is oil-soluble and can travel into the pore itself, which is why it is the go-to for congestion, blackheads and oily, breakout-prone skin. Mandelic acid has a larger molecule and penetrates more slowly, which makes it a gentler option for sensitive skin and a safer starting point on deeper skin tones. Most professional protocols blend acids rather than using one in isolation.
NOON Aesthetics and Dermalogica protocols
We retail and treat with NOON Aesthetics, an Israeli professional skincare range built around delivering active ingredients with reduced irritation, and we use Dermalogica professional peel protocols alongside the wider Dermalogica facial menu. Which we choose depends on your skin, your concern and what you are able to use at home between treatments. Peels and facials are not competing options: many clients run a peel course and use Dermalux LED or a hydrating facial in between to keep the skin calm.
What downtime actually looks like
Lighter peels typically cause mild tightness and a day or two of very slight flaking, and most people go straight back to work. Stronger protocols can produce visible peeling around days three to five, usually starting around the nose and mouth. Peeling is not the point of a peel, it is a side effect, and a treatment that produces no visible shedding can still be working. Never pick or pull at peeling skin: that is how you create the pigmentation you booked the peel to remove.
Pigmentation and deeper skin tones
Skin that produces melanin readily also produces it in response to inflammation, which means an overly aggressive peel can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the exact opposite of what the client wanted. Our approach for Fitzpatrick IV to VI is conservative: gentle acids, a proper preparation phase at home, shorter contact times, building strength gradually across a course, and strict daily SPF. We will always rather deliver a slower result than cause a pigment problem.
Aftercare that protects the result
SPF 30 or above every day, regardless of season or weather, is non-negotiable for at least the duration of the course. Pause retinoids and strong acids at home for the window we specify. Avoid heat, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and heavy exercise for 24 to 48 hours. No waxing, threading or laser on the treated area for at least a week. And keep the skin barrier supported with a simple cleanser and moisturiser rather than adding more actives on top.
How we plan chemical peels at Precious Moments.
A good result is not created by the treatment name alone. It is created by the consultation, the suitability check, the order of treatments, the settings used, the aftercare followed and the consistency of the course. That is why every chemical peels client starts with a conversation about medical history, previous treatments, medication, skin behaviour, lifestyle, upcoming events and the result they actually want. If another treatment would deliver the outcome more safely or more directly, we say so before you spend money.
The clinic works from 6 Eastgate in Banstead, so repeated appointments are realistic for clients travelling from Cheam, Epsom, Ewell, Sutton, Coulsdon, Kingswood, Chipstead and Tattenham. That matters because most meaningful aesthetic results are not single-visit miracles. They come from a correct sequence: the first appointment establishes the baseline, the middle appointments build the result, and the review appointment decides whether maintenance, a top-up or a different layer of treatment is the sensible next step.
Pricing is kept live on Treatwell so clients are not reading old figures on the website. Course value is built into the clinic model: buy a course of six and receive the seventh treatment free; buy eight and receive ten. Repeat-course Early Bird offers and the loyalty stamp scheme can reduce the cost further for clients who already know they want an ongoing skin, laser or body plan. A deposit is required to secure booking, and appointments can be rescheduled without charge outside the 48-hour window.
Safety is documented rather than assumed. Precious Moments is fully insured, council-registered for skin-piercing and semi-permanent make-up procedures, and uses licensed clinical-waste disposal for sharps and treatment waste. Practitioners hold NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 beauty qualifications, with additional advanced training across laser, skin needling, radio frequency, injectables, oncology massage and Dermalux LED protocols. That combination gives each appointment a clear structure: assess, treat, record, advise and review.
Suitability before sales
If chemical peels is not the right route for your skin, body or timetable, we will redirect the plan rather than forcing the booking.
Local course consistency
Regular attendance is easier from a Banstead clinic with clear opening hours, WhatsApp support and a small team who remember your treatment history.
Aftercare that protects results
You leave with practical instructions on heat, exercise, actives, SPF, makeup, swimming or massage restrictions where relevant: not vague advice.

Frequently Asked
Chemical Peels in Banstead, your questions, answered.
How much do chemical peels cost in Banstead?
+
NOON chemical peels start from £25, and Dermalogica facial and peel treatments from £26. Course pricing is discussed at consultation and the full menu is live on Treatwell.
How many peels will I need?
+
Most concerns respond to a course of three to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart, followed by maintenance. Congestion often improves faster than pigmentation.
Will my skin peel visibly?
+
It depends on the strength. Lighter peels cause slight tightness and minor flaking; stronger protocols can peel visibly around days three to five. We tell you what to expect before you book.
Are peels safe for darker skin tones?
+
Yes, with the right approach. We use gentler acids, a preparation phase, shorter contact times and gradual strength increases to minimise the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Can I have a peel before a wedding or holiday?
+
Not within two weeks. Finish a course at least two to three weeks before the event, and use a hydrating facial or Dermalux LED closer to the day instead.
Do peels help acne?
+
Salicylic-based peels help with congestion, blackheads and breakout-prone skin, and can improve the marks left behind. Moderate to severe acne needs medical input, and we will say so rather than treat around it.
What should I stop using beforehand?
+
Retinoids, strong acids and scrubs, usually for around five to seven days before and after. We give you exact timings based on the peel we are doing.
Is a peel painful?
+
Expect tingling, warmth or a mild sting during application. It is monitored throughout and we can neutralise early if you find it uncomfortable.
Can I combine peels with other treatments?
+
Yes. Dermalux LED afterwards is excellent for calming the skin, and many clients alternate peels with facials or skin needling across a longer plan.
What is your cancellation policy?
+
A deposit is required to book. Cancellations outside 48 hours can be rescheduled free of charge.
