The acids and what they do

Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic and lactic are water-soluble and work on the surface, making them well suited to dullness, dryness and uneven tone. Beta hydroxy acid, salicylic, is oil-soluble and can travel into the pore itself, which is why it is the go-to for congestion, blackheads and oily, breakout-prone skin. Mandelic acid has a larger molecule and penetrates more slowly, which makes it a gentler option for sensitive skin and a safer starting point on deeper skin tones. What downtime actually looks like

Lighter peels typically cause mild tightness and a day or two of very slight flaking, and most people go straight back to work. Avoid heat, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and heavy exercise for 24 to 48 hours. No waxing, threading or laser on the treated area for at least a week. And keep the skin barrier supported with a simple cleanser and moisturiser rather than adding more actives on top.
