The Treatment

What waxing actually is: and who it's for.

What it is

Waxing removes hair from the root, so regrowth is softer, finer and far slower than shaving. We use Lycon hot wax for intimate and sensitive areas, which shrink-wraps around the hair rather than gripping the skin, and traditional strip wax where it suits the area better. Every pot is used hygienically, with no double-dipping, and every appointment takes place in a private treatment room rather than a curtained bay.

Who it's for

Women and men across Banstead, Cheam, Epsom, Ewell, Sutton, Coulsdon and Tadworth who want reliable, comfortable hair removal: first-time waxers nervous about intimate areas, regular clients on a four to six week cycle, holiday and wedding preparation, and men wanting back, chest or shoulder work done discreetly.

When it's right

Every four to six weeks keeps you in a single growth cycle, which is when waxing feels most comfortable and results last longest. Book at least 48 hours before an event so any redness has settled, and two days before a holiday rather than the morning of your flight.

Why professional matters

Waxing is one of those treatments where the therapist matters more than the product. Correct wax temperature, correct sectioning, correct stretch and correct removal angle are the difference between a comfortable appointment and a bruised, broken, ingrown-prone mess. Our therapists wax all day, every day, on the same clients for years.

The Cost of Leaving It

What happens when it's left, or done badly.

!

Shaving buys you two days. By day three you have stubble, by day five you have itch, and by day seven you have razor bumps and ingrown hairs in exactly the places you did not want them.

!

Rushed waxing in a busy salon leaves skin bruised, lifted or broken, and a single bad Hollywood is enough to put someone off intimate waxing for years.

!

Cheap wax at the wrong temperature grips the skin instead of the hair. That is what causes the lifting, the bleeding spots and the two days of soreness afterwards.

!

Ingrown hairs and folliculitis are not just cosmetic. Left alone they cause pigmentation and small scars that outlast the hair that caused them.

The Precious Moments Method

How we deliver waxing, step by step.

  1. Step 1

    Quick consultation

We check medical history, medication, recent sun exposure and any skincare actives such as retinoids, which can make skin lift during waxing.

  2. Step 2

    Preparation

Skin is cleansed and prepped with a pre-wax product to remove oils and moisture, so the wax bonds to the hair rather than the skin.

  3. Step 3

    Sectioning and waxing

We work in small, deliberate sections with correct stretch and removal angle. Lycon hot wax for intimate, underarm and facial areas; strip wax for larger body areas.

  4. Step 4

    Tweezing and finishing

Any stray hairs are tweezed rather than re-waxed over the same patch, which is what causes soreness on repeat passes.

  5. Step 5

    Aftercare

Soothing lotion, plus written aftercare covering heat, exercise, swimming, sun and exfoliation, and how to prevent ingrown hairs between appointments.

What You Actually Get

Specific, measurable benefits.

Weeks, not days

Because hair is removed from the root, most clients get three to four weeks of genuinely smooth skin before regrowth becomes noticeable.

Finer regrowth over time

Regular waxing on a consistent cycle weakens the hair, so it grows back softer, sparser and less coarse than shaved stubble.

Lycon hot wax for sensitive areas

Hot wax shrink-wraps the hair and lifts away from the skin, which is why it is our default for intimate, underarm and facial work.

Private treatment rooms

Intimate waxing happens behind a closed door with a qualified therapist, not in a curtained cubicle.

Fewer ingrowns

Correct technique plus proper aftercare advice dramatically reduces ingrown hairs, folliculitis and post-wax bumps.

Bookable around your life

Short appointments from ten minutes for facial waxing, so you can fit it into a lunch break.

The Detail

Everything you'd want to know before booking.

Lycon hot wax versus strip wax

Hot wax, sometimes called film wax, is applied warm and thick, allowed to set, and then flicked off without a strip. It grips the hair and releases the skin, which makes it markedly more comfortable on intimate areas, underarms, upper lip and any skin that is thin or reactive. Strip wax is thinner, applied with a spatula and removed with a fabric strip. It is faster over large areas such as legs, arms and backs, and perfectly comfortable where skin is more robust. We choose per area, not per client, which is why a single appointment often uses both.

Intimate waxing explained

A standard bikini takes the hair from outside the knicker line. An extended bikini goes further in at the sides and top. A Brazilian removes most of the hair, leaving a defined strip or triangle at the front. A Hollywood removes everything, front to back. If you are unsure, book the bikini and talk it through in the room: we would rather take less and have you come back than take more than you wanted. Positioning is guided by the therapist throughout, and you are covered wherever you are not being worked on.

Men's waxing

Men's back, shoulders, chest and stomach waxing is a routine part of our week, not an afterthought. Male hair is typically coarser and denser, so we allow more time and often work in smaller sections with hot wax on the more sensitive areas around the nipples and lower stomach. Sports clients, cyclists and swimmers frequently move onto a fixed cycle so regrowth never gets long enough to be uncomfortable.

Preventing ingrown hairs

The single biggest cause of ingrown hairs is friction plus dead skin. Exfoliate gently two to three times a week starting 48 hours after your appointment, moisturise daily, avoid tight synthetic clothing straight after waxing, and do not shave between appointments: shaving creates a blunt, sharp tip that is far more likely to curl back into the follicle. Clients who find they still get ingrowns in specific areas often do better moving that area onto laser hair removal instead.

When we cannot wax you

We will not wax over broken, sunburnt or infected skin, active cold sores in the treated area, or areas treated with Roaccutane within the last six months. Retinoids, acid exfoliants and some antibiotics also make skin lift, so tell us what you are using at consultation. If you have had recent laser or IPL in an area, we will discuss timing before waxing over it.

How we plan waxing at Precious Moments.

A good result is not created by the treatment name alone. It is created by the consultation, the suitability check, the order of treatments, the settings used, the aftercare followed and the consistency of the course. That is why every waxing client starts with a conversation about medical history, previous treatments, medication, skin behaviour, lifestyle, upcoming events and the result they actually want. If another treatment would deliver the outcome more safely or more directly, we say so before you spend money.

The clinic works from 6 Eastgate in Banstead, so repeated appointments are realistic for clients travelling from Cheam, Epsom, Ewell, Sutton, Coulsdon, Kingswood, Chipstead and Tattenham. That matters because most meaningful aesthetic results are not single-visit miracles. They come from a correct sequence: the first appointment establishes the baseline, the middle appointments build the result, and the review appointment decides whether maintenance, a top-up or a different layer of treatment is the sensible next step.

Pricing is kept live on Treatwell so clients are not reading old figures on the website. Course value is built into the clinic model: buy a course of six and receive the seventh treatment free; buy eight and receive ten. Repeat-course Early Bird offers and the loyalty stamp scheme can reduce the cost further for clients who already know they want an ongoing skin, laser or body plan. A deposit is required to secure booking, and appointments can be rescheduled without charge outside the 48-hour window.

Safety is documented rather than assumed. Precious Moments is fully insured, council-registered for skin-piercing and semi-permanent make-up procedures, and uses licensed clinical-waste disposal for sharps and treatment waste. Practitioners hold NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 beauty qualifications, with additional advanced training across laser, skin needling, radio frequency, injectables, oncology massage and Dermalux LED protocols. That combination gives each appointment a clear structure: assess, treat, record, advise and review.

Suitability before sales

If waxing is not the right route for your skin, body or timetable, we will redirect the plan rather than forcing the booking.

Local course consistency

Regular attendance is easier from a Banstead clinic with clear opening hours, WhatsApp support and a small team who remember your treatment history.

Aftercare that protects results

You leave with practical instructions on heat, exercise, actives, SPF, makeup, swimming or massage restrictions where relevant: not vague advice.

Frequently Asked

Waxing in Banstead, your questions, answered.

How much does waxing cost in Banstead?

+

Facial waxing starts at £11, men's waxing from £13, ladies' body waxing from £16, ladies' intimate waxing from £18 and Lycon hot wax treatments from £21. The full itemised menu is live on Treatwell.

How long does the hair need to be?

+

Around five to seven millimetres, roughly two to three weeks of growth. Too short and the wax cannot grip; too long and removal is less comfortable. Do not shave in between.

Does waxing hurt?

+

There is a brief sting as the wax is removed, strongest on the first appointment and on intimate areas. It reduces significantly once you are on a regular cycle, and Lycon hot wax makes a noticeable difference on sensitive areas.

How often should I book?

+

Every four to six weeks. Staying on cycle is what makes waxing progressively more comfortable and regrowth finer.

Can I be waxed on my period?

+

Yes, for intimate waxing we simply ask that you wear a tampon or menstrual cup. Skin can be a little more sensitive in the few days before your period.

What is the difference between a Brazilian and a Hollywood?

+

A Brazilian leaves a strip or triangle at the front and removes the rest. A Hollywood removes all hair, front to back.

Can I go to the gym or swim afterwards?

+

Please avoid heat, sweat, swimming pools, saunas and sunbeds for 24 to 48 hours. Follicles are open immediately after waxing and that is when irritation happens.

Is waxing suitable if I use retinol or acids?

+

Tell us at consultation. Retinoids and strong acids thin the surface layer of skin and can cause it to lift during waxing, so we usually ask you to stop using them on that area for around a week beforehand.

Should I choose waxing or laser hair removal?

+

If you want maintenance, waxing is ideal. If you want to stop hair growing altogether, laser is the better investment. Many clients wax the areas they want to keep flexible and laser the areas that cause ingrowns.

What is your cancellation policy?

+

A deposit is required to book. Cancellations outside 48 hours can be rescheduled free of charge.
